Quart Franc, 1/4 Franc or 25 Centimes Argent
The silver Quart de Franc coin was introduced in Year XII (1803-1804) during the reign of the First Consulate under Napoleon Bonaparte. This was a period marked by monetary reforms aimed at stabilizing the French financial system after the Revolution. These coins were minted until 1845, with several series during this period. They were part of the monetary system of the time, when the franc stood out for its value and everyday usefulness for transactions.
In parallel, silver 25 centime coins were minted under Louis-Philippe I, who reigned from 1830 to 1848. This was a single version of the coin, of small value but important in the context of the monetary reforms of the July Monarchy. Although the 25 centimes were not as widely produced as other coins, they remain emblematic of this transitional period in French monetary history.
